Competitive Exams After Graduation For Jobs

After graduation, a student has two types of openings: prepare themselves for campus job interviews or dive into the competitive exams for jobs.

I will be sharing some information about the second one i.e. competitive exams after graduation for jobs.

 UPSC Civil Services Examination Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality:

  • For the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service and the Indian Police Service,
    a candidate must be a citizen of India.

  • For other services, a candidate must be either:—
    (a) a citizen of India, or
    (b) a subject of Nepal, or
    (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
    (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of
    permanently settling in India, or
    (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African
    countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and
    Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  1. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for civil service exams is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • He/she must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any of the recognized universities

  • Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results or those who are yet to appear for the qualifying examination are also eligible for the Preliminary Examination.

  • Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government or its equivalent are also eligible to apply.

  1. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 32 years (upper limit relaxation for certain categories).

  2. Number of attempts: The Authority has put restrictions on the maximum number of attempts by a candidate which is generally 6 (some categories have relaxations)

 

RBI Grade B Examination Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality:

  • Only a citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962.

  • People of Indian Origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to settle in India.

  1. Educational Qualification: Generally, an applicant should have secured at least 60% (50% for certain categories) marks as well in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th standard examinations.

  2. Age Limit:

  • Applicants for RBI Officer Grade B should be in the age group of 21-30 years.

  • Candidates with an M.Phil degree and Ph.D. qualification have a relaxation of 2 and 4 years in the upper age limit, i.e. the upper age limit for such candidates is 32 and 34 years respectively.

  • Candidates possessing experience as an officer in any of the commercial banks or financial institutions in the public sector (including RBI), the upper age limit is relaxed to the extent of the number of completed years of such experience subject to a max. of three years.

  1. Number of Attempts: General candidates have 6 attempts at RBI Officer Grade B exam whereas there is no such restriction on SC/ST/PWD candidates.

 

SBI PO Examination Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality: Only Indian citizens are allowed to apply for the SBI PO examination as per the eligibility criteria specified by the commission.

  2. Educational Qualification: A candidate should have the required academic qualifications to appear in the examination.

  • Candidates must be a graduate in any discipline from a state or central recognized university or possess any other equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

  • Aspirants who are appearing in the Final year/Semester of their Graduation will also be eligible to apply but solely on a provisional basis.

  • Candidates having Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is as per the date decided by the bank.

  • Candidates possessing the qualification of Chartered Accountants can also apply.

  1. Age Limit: Applicants should be within the age group of 21 to 30 years as per the date decided by the bank. There is a provision of age relaxation for candidates of certain categories.

  2. Number of Attempts: In general, a candidate may appear in the SBI PO exam max. for 4 times which has certain relaxations for specific categories.

 IBPS PO Examination Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality: The National Eligibility Criteria is the same as the UPSC Civil Service Examination as mention above.

  2. Educational Qualification: The educational qualification required for IBPS PO Exam is the same as the SBI PO exam that I have already mentioned above.

  3. Age Limit: In general, the minimum age limit for a candidate is 20 years and the maximum limit is 30 years with certain relaxation for certain categories.

  4. Number of Attempts: In IBPS PO Exam there is no restriction on the maximum number of attempts. A candidate can appear in the Exam until he/she reaches the upper age limit.

 

IBPS Specialist Officer Examination

Different Posts offered to IBPS Specialist Officers:

  1. IT Officer: responsible to take care of banks’ software systems.

  2. Law Officer: needed to handle all Legal or Judicial matters of the bank.

  3. Agriculture Officer: responsible for the promotion of loans in rural areas for agricultural purposes.

  4. Marketing Officer: responsible for the marketing and branding of a bank.

  5. HR Officer: responsible to handle human resource department functions.

  6. Rajbhasha Adhikari: responsible for translation-related works.

IBPS Specialist Officer Examination 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality: The National Eligibility Criteria is the same as the UPSC Civil Service Examination as mentioned above.

  2. Age Limit: In general, the minimum age limit for a candidate is 20 years and the maximum limit is 30 years with certain relaxation for certain categories.

  3. Number of Attempts: In IBPS SO Exam there is no restriction on the maximum number of attempts. A candidate can appear in the Exam until he/she reaches the upper age limit.

  4. Educational Qualification: Candidates willing to apply for the above-mentioned posts must have a graduate degree or postgraduate degree in the relevant field. The specialist officer educational qualification according to their positions is given below:

i) Qualification for IBPS SO IT Officer:

The aspirants must have completed graduation or post-graduation in the IT-related fields. For the IT officer candidate should have a qualification in any one of the following fields: 4-year Engineering Degree in

  • Computer Science

  • Computer Applications

  • Information Technology

  • Electronics & Telecommunications

  • Electronics & Communication

  • Electronics & Instrumentation

Post-Graduate Degree in

  • Electronics & Telecommunications

  • Electronics & Communication

  • Electronics & Instrumentation

  • Computer Science

  • Information Technology

  • Computer Applications

Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level

ii) Qualification for IBPS SO Law Officer. 

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in law (LLB) and must be enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of India for this post.

iii) Qualification for IBPS SO Agriculture Field Officer. 

The candidates must have a 4-year graduate degree in agriculture or a related field to be eligible for the Agriculture Field Officer post. Candidates who opted for any agriculture-related field in graduation can apply for Agriculture field officer.

iv) Qualification for IBPS SO Marketing Officer

The candidates are eligible to apply for this post who have a graduate degree and one of the following streams of management:

  • Full-time MMS (Marketing)

  • MBA (Marketing)

  • Full time 2 years PGDBA

  • PGDBM

  • PGPM

  • PGDM degree with a specialization in Marketing

v) Qualification for IBPS SO HR/Personnel Officer

Graduation and full-time post-graduate degree/diploma in one of the following fields are required qualification for candidates to apply for the HR officer in a bank:

  • Personnel Management

  • Industrial Relations

  • Human Resources/HRD

  • Social Work

  • Labor Law

vi) Qualification for IBPS SO Rajbhasha Adhikari. 

For Rajbhasha Adhikari post, candidates are required to have one of the following degrees:

  • Post-graduate degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the degree (graduation) level.

  • Post-graduate degree in Hindi with English as subjects at the degree (graduation) level.

NOTE: Candidates should have a certificate/ degree/ diploma in computer languages or should have studied computers as one of the subjects in high school/ college/ Institute for the posts other than the IT officer.




SSC CGL Examination 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality: The National Eligibility Criteria is the same as the UPSC Civil Service Examination as mentioned above.

  2. Age Limit: The eligible age to appear in the exam is 18 years. Whereas the maximum age to appear in the exam is 32 years in general which varies from category to category.

  3. Educational Qualification: The educational qualification for various posts are explained below:

  • Assistant Audit Officer: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.

  • Assistant Audit Officer: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.

  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard level OR Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

  • Compiler: Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as a compulsory or Elective subject.

  • All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

For posts of Assistant Section Officer (CSS), Computer Proficiency Test has also been prescribed as an Essential Qualification



RRB NTPC Examination

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Medical Fitness: The most important criterion in the medical test, along with being physically fit in all respects, is the Visual Acuity Standard or eye-sight and you should ensure that you meet the criteria before applying for the concerned post.

If you find yourself eligible on the basis of the medical fitness criteria, you should note the posts for which you are eligible to apply for, and go on to read the age-related eligibility criteria.

  1. Age limit: The age of the Criteria for the Candidates Appearing for the RRB (NTPC) Exam are as Follows-

  • Applicants’ age should be between 18 years and 32 years.

  • Candidates of the reserved category will be offered appropriate age relaxation in their upper age.

  1. Educational Qualification: There are two eligibility criteria on the basis of educational qualification for recruitment through the RRB NTPC exam.

  • The graduation requirement remains the same across various posts,

  • Some posts require the candidate to be proficient in computer typing in English or Hindi language.

Irrespective of the criteria met from above, the candidate should have the Mark-sheet of the final exam of the degree course at the time of application for the RRB NTPC examination.

NOTE: Persons with more than 40% disability may be exempted from the Typing Test, provided they bring the Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate to the Type Test Center.

Graduation through regular mode: You should have completed graduation from a recognized Board / University / Institute AND have the result of the final examination available at the time of application.


LIC AAO Examination

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Age Criteria: Contenders, who wish to apply for LIC AAO Exam must be aged between 21 to 30 years. Aspirants, who belong to the reserved category, will be provided legitimate relaxation in the upper age.

  1. Educational Qualification: Candidates, who aspire to apply for LIC AAO Examination, should possess a Bachelor degree in any stream from an institute or university recognized by Parliament or State Legislature. No candidates will be provided any relaxation in the minimum educational qualification.

IBPS and SBI Clerk Examination

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Age required The age of the Candidates must not be below 20 years. Whereas the upper limit is 28 years. But there is a relaxation in the upper age limit to reserved category candidates.

  2. Educational qualification:

  • For Junior Associates: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government

  • For Junior Agricultural Associates: Graduation in Agriculture or Agriculture allied activities from a Government recognized university/Institute

  • Knowledge of official and local language: Candidates have to produce class 10th standard mark sheet/certificate evidencing having studied official (local) language will not be subjected to any Language test. In case of others, the language test will be conducted before final selection. Candidates not found to be proficient in official and local language would be disqualified

  • Candidates should be able to write and speak English.

  • Candidates who are in the final Semester/ year of Graduation may also apply for SBI Clerk. But they will have to produce proof of having passed the Graduation Examination at the time of document verification for joining

  • Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD as per the prescribed dates

  • Candidates should be able to write and speak English

Note: 

  • The date of passing eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the mark-sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University / Institute.

  • Matriculate Ex-servicemen, who have obtained the Indian Army/Navy/Air Force Special Certificate of Education, after having completed 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union are also eligible for the posts.



Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET)

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Eligibility For TET Paper – I:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002 OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)* OR

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

  1. Eligibility for TET Paper – II:

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.
